Members Share their Latest Initiatives for Women’s Empowerment

Today, the working group on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment had its second meeting of the year. Representatives from UN Women and IDB invited members to collaborate on a new project.

Representatives from our member banks shared the most recent developments and current initiatives to promote gender equality within public banks and to support women entrepreneurs in their respective countries.

The group welcomed for the first time Phoebe Rountree and Peter Wallace from British Business Bank. We also had representatives from BDC (Canada), BNDES (Brazil), Bpifrance, DBN (Nigeria) and Nafin (Mexico).

In addition, Gabriela Andrade from Inter-American Development Bank and Vanina Vincensini from UN Women joined the meeting to invite TMG members to participate in their recently launched survey: Recent trends and innovations in financing programs and initiatives for women and women MSMEs.

All members of The Montreal Group have been invited to participate in this survey, in the Group’s capacity as part of the Executive Committee of the Finance in Common initiative.

Thank you to all those who participated. We look forward to continuing this enriching conversation at our next meeting on July 13!
