The Montreal Group hosted its Annual Summit in São Paulo, Brazil!

This weekend we had the pleasure of meeting in São Paulo, Brazil for the 2024 Montreal Group Summit.

This provided members and our closest partners with the opportunity of having in-depth discussion on topics impacting SMEs. Some of the key sessions we facilitated included:

  • An update on The Montreal Group’s activities, including progress made on Key Topic Groups and our Members’ Area – Initiatives that are enabling knowledge-sharing and innovation among our members.
  • Members shared significant achievements they each achieved this past year, as well as current challenges they are facing. A solution blitz session was held to brainstorm on potential solutions to those challenges.
  • Presentations on sustainability-related research explored by TMG and its members. This included research findings from a paper being produced by TMG’s Chief Economists, which explores the different decarbonization solutions offered by public development banks, along with their impact measurement methods, as well as a discussion on the preliminary findings of a TMG/OECD joint research project that aims to address the lack of consensus around sustainability-related data being asked of SMEs.
  • In order to expose TMG members to developments and innovations in the SME financing world, we hosted two panel discussions: One of them on using alternative data and emerging technologies, including AI, to support more SMEs, and another one on open banking as a catalyzer for SME financing.

Thanks to our members and partners for their active participation at this year’s Summit. We look forward to continuing to exchange best practices so we can accelerate our innovation and have an even greater impact on SMEs.
