TMG as the authority on SMEs at the 2023 Finance in Common Summit!
This year, The Finance in Common Summit included MSME sustainability and financial inclusion as one of the event themes, bringing MSMEs to the center of conversations. We acknowledged the key role that public development banks play to support MSMEs in their path to sustainability, so they continue driving economic growth and employment.
Over the past few days TMG members took the stage on several sessions at the FICS:
TMG hosted a workshop on How public development banks are empowering MSMEs in their transition to sustainability. Pierre Cléroux presented a study on the impact that adopting ESG practices has on MSMEs and their ability to land large contracts with major buyers. This was followed by a panel exchange among The Montreal Group members, moderated by our Secretary General, Karen Kastner, where we discussed how public development banks are encouraging MSMEs on their journey to sustainability.
We also hosted a session for TMG members on Fostering sustainability and gender equality among public development banks. This session was moderated by TMG member Isabelle Lebo, who welcomed Thomas Marois from McMaster University, Dr Jemimah Njuki from UN Women, Gabriela Andrade from the Inter-American Development Bank and Tony Okpanachi, from the Development Bank of Nigeria.
Thank you to all our members and partners, who enabled these insightful discussions.
